SU CHADHA
NJ STATE TRIATHLON
FINISHER
In 2019, I took part in a sprint triathlon, where I challenged myself to overcome my biggest weakness, swimming. Despite struggling initially, I dedicated myself to rigorous practice in the deep ends of the pool, determined to improve.
On the day, I was eventually succeeded in completing the 500m swim, which may seem trivial to some but was not for me especially knowing that I can’t stop and have to swim continuously equivalent to 22 laps of swimming. After conquering the swim, the bike and run segments felt much smoother and more enjoyable. It was a gratifying experience that showcased my progress and determination throughout the race.
For young girls aspiring to become triathletes, I would recommend that it's essential to start slowly and steadily build endurance in each discipline. Consistency in training, along with engaging in cross-training activities, will lead to overall fitness improvement.
